Welcome to the blog for our Poland Trip

During our nine days in Poland, we will explore many questions about history, memory, and legacy that are at the core of our work. With the help of Polish and Jewish scholars, witnesses to history, community activists, politicians and journalists, as well as organizations that have worked with Facing History throughout the past 25 years, we will be challenged to think in new ways as we confront the past and struggle with questions about the present and future. We look forward to learning together!

This blog will serve as one tool to communicate and share our learning during the trip.  Facing History staff have been asked to blog on different sessions of the itinerary, and we will share those reflections here throughout the trip.  This blog is part of our Poland site (www.facinghistory.org/Poland2014) that will be share with Facing History staff, and family and friends of those traveling with us. If you feel comfortable, we invite you to comment on the blog entries.

Another way we will share is through our social media platforms.  You can find out more about social media guidelines here. We welcome you to follow Facing History on Facebook, Twitter, and on the photo-sharing site Instagram with the handle @facinghistory. Connecting with Facing History – as well as with colleagues, fellow board members, or partner organizations – on social media can be a helpful way to share your thoughts about the trip, photos, quotes, relevant articles, or resources that inspire you, and is a way to extend your knowledge-sharing once the trip is over.

If you have any questions, please speak or email Deb Chad (deb_chad@facing.org).

  1. I am excited about this trip to Poland! I have found the readings moving and thoughtfully provocative. In addition to pushing me to think more deeply about the history of the Holocaust they are raising issues about democracy building, the challenges of rebuilding a community after collective violence

  3. Two quick thoughts...

    1) it would be wonderful to read some of what y'all are reading and discussing on this trip. Is this posted somewhere? Apologies if this has already been circulated and I'm being absent-minded.

    2) Holy cow is it easy to park at the Brookline office these days! Tell Marc, we need more trips....
